A Guinness World Records representative has declared the son of a poor Filipino locksmith who measured 23.5 inches tall as the world'sshortest man.

Guinness official Craig Glenday says Junrey Balawing, who turned 18 on Sunday, broke the record of Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 26.4 inches tall.

It came from the fake news website Weekly World News (WWN), which made the bogus announcement over the weekend. WWN, known for "(covering) events that seem to occur in a parallel universe," even posted fictitious quotes from Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg: "The stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness... I don't care about the money... I just want my old life back."

Tropical Storm Agatha floods kill 150 in guatemala


Flooding and landslides from tropical storm Agatha have killed more than 150 people throughout Central America in the past few days, and apparently caused a giant Guatemala City sinkhole.

A sinkhole caused caused by tropical storm Agatha in Guatemala City on Sunday. Torrential rains brought by the first tropical storm of the 2010 season pounded Central America and southern Mexico, triggering deadly landslides.

Lack of sleep linked to early death

People who get less than six hours sleep per night have an increased risk of dying prematurely, researchers said on Wednesday.

Those who slumbered for less than that amount of time were 12 percent more likely to die early, though researchers also found a link between sleeping more than nine hours and premature death.
